Overview
NizSol delivered the UX design for Fitmate, a hybrid coaching platform that pairs certified nutrition and fitness coaches with AI-assisted meal logging and analysis. The design puts four things in one place without them fighting each other: calorie tracking, workout logging, weekly coaching calls, and unlimited coach messaging for both consumer and employer (GLP-1 benefit) audiences.
Hybrid AI + Human Coaching Interface
Fitmate needed a UX design that balances automated AI insights with personal human-coach interaction without overwhelming users. The challenge was making advanced fitness features accessible to users of all experience levels while keeping coaches deeply integrated into the daily experience.
- Feature Density. Balancing AI meal logging, exercise library, workout plans, and coach messaging in a clean, navigable interface.
- Dual User Types. Designing for both consumer members and employer-sponsored participants, plus a dedicated coach dashboard.
- Habit Formation. Designing UI patterns that encourage daily logging and long-term engagement through behavioral psychology principles.
User-Centered Fitness UX
The design reveals features as users need them rather than all at once, and puts the coach inside the daily flow instead of behind a separate messaging tab. Fitness apps lose people in week two, so the whole structure is built around making the second week easier than the first.
- Onboarding Flow. Personalized setup wizard collecting fitness goals, experience level, and preferences to tailor the experience.
- Dashboard-First Design. Centralized progress dashboard showing daily calorie intake, workout completion, and coach feedback at a glance.
- Coach Interface. Separate UX flow for coaches with client management, progress monitoring, weekly call scheduling, and messaging features.
Fitness UX Research & Design
We followed a research-driven design process, starting with competitor analysis and user interviews, then iterating through wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes.
User Research
Conducted interviews with fitness enthusiasts and certified coaches to understand pain points in existing fitness and weight-loss apps.
